Dear Friends, 12/5/09
I was very fortunate to meet up with volunteers with the Veneta Fire Station. They were moved by Jada's story and my journey and have taken me under their wing. They took care of me in Veneta and then made sure I had a place to stay the following night in Walton and then again in Mapleton. And tonight when I get into Florence I don't have to search for a place to stay because they have passed the word on and housing is already arranged. But they have gone beyond that they will be holding the first ever bone marrow drive in Veneta. They all reached out to their personal networks to share info re: becoming bone marrow donors. They fed me. They are making connections for me with motor cross folks who hold events to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society And they are passing the word forward along the Oregon coast. I am moved and grateful by their passion and spirit of giving. What a wonderful group of people they have here in the Lane County Fire Department.
